Daniel 10

The Man of Splendor

1 In the third year of Cyrus king of the Persians, a word was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar. The word was true, and great power and understanding were given to him in the vision.†

2 In those days, I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks.†

3 I ate no desirable food, and no meat or wine entered my mouth, nor did I anoint myself, until three whole weeks were fulfilled.

4 Then on the twenty-fourth day of the first month, I was beside the great river, that is, the Tigris.

5 I lifted my eyes and looked, and behold, there was a man clothed in fine linen; and his waist was girded with gold of Uphaz.†

6 His body was like beryl, and his face like the appearance of lightning. His eyes were like lamps of fire, and his arms and legs like the appearance of shining brass. The sound of his words was like the voice of a multitude.

7 I, Daniel, alone saw the vision, for the men with me did not see the vision; but a great astonishment fell upon them, and they fled in fear.

8 So I was left alone and saw this great vision, but no strength remained in me; for my splendor was turned into corruption, and I retained no strength.

9 Yet I heard the sound of his words; and when I heard him, I was deeply troubled with my face on the ground.

Prophecies of Persia and Greece

10 Suddenly, a hand touched me and raised me up on my knees.

11 He said to me, “O Daniel, a man of desires, understand the words I speak to you and stand upright, for now I have been sent to you.” So when he spoke this word to me, I stood trembling.

12 Then he said to me, “Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day you set your heart to understand and to afflict yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I came because of your words.†

13 But the prince of the Persian kingdom withstood me twenty-one days, and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; for I was left there with the ruler of the Persian kingdom.

14 Now I have come to make you understand what will happen to your people in the last days, for the vision is for days yet to come.”

15 When he had spoken these words to me, I turned my face toward the ground and was deeply troubled.

16 Again suddenly, one having the likeness of a son of man touched my lips, and I opened my mouth and spoke, and said to the one standing before me, “My lord, because of your vision, my insides churned within me so I have no strength.†

17 For how can your servant, my lord, speak with my lord of this? As for me, no strength now remains in me, nor is any breath left in me.”

18 Then again, the one like the appearance of a man touched me and strengthened me.

19 He said to me, “O man of desires, peace be to you; be courageous and strong.” So when he spoke with me, I was strengthened and said, “Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me.”

20 Then he said, “Do you know why I have come to you? But now I will return to the war against the ruler of the Persians, and I will go forth, and the ruler of the Greeks will come.

21 But I will tell you what is noted in the Scripture of Truth—and there is no one loyal to me concerning this, except Michael your prince.

Psalms 148

1 Alleluia; of Aggeus and Zacharias. †Praise the Lord from the heavens; Praise Him in the highest.

2 Praise Him, all you His angels; Praise Him, all you His hosts.

3 Praise Him, sun and moon; Praise Him, all you stars and light.

4 Praise Him, you heavens of heavens, And you waters above the heavens.

5 Let them praise the Lord’s name, For He spoke, and they were made; He commanded, and they were created.

6 He established them forever and unto ages of ages; He set forth His ordinance, and it shall not pass away.

7 Praise the Lord from the earth, You dragons and all the deeps,

8 Fire and hail, snow and ice, Stormy wind, which perform His word,

9 Mountains and all the hills, Fruitful trees and all cedars,

10 Wild animals and all cattle, Creeping things and flying birds,

11 Kings of the earth and all peoples, Princes and all judges of the earth,

12 Young men and maidens, Elders with younger,

13 Let them praise the Lord’s name, For His name alone is exalted; His thanksgiving is in earth and heaven.

14 And He shall exalt the horn of His people, A hymn for all His saints, For the children of Israel, a people who draw near to Him.

Proverbs of Solomon 31

16 Strongly girding her loins, She strengthens her arms for work.

17 She experiences work as a good thing, And her lamp is not quenched all night.

18 She extends her arms to do profitable things, And she applies her hands to the spindle.

19 She opens her hands to the poor And reaches out with her fruit to the needy.

20 Her husband is not anxious about those at home When he spends a long time elsewhere, For all her household are clothed.

Revelation 20

The Millennial Age

1 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.†

2 He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years;†

3 and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.†

4 And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.†

5 But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

6 Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.

After the Millennium

7 Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison†

8 and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea.

9 They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them.

10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

The Great White Throne Judgment

11 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them.†

12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.†

13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works.†

14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.
